Southend-on-Sea
On Tuesday children from Years 1,2 and 3 had the first trip of the school year. For some of them it their first ever school trip and this meant that event the coach trip was exciting. They went to Southend-on-Sea, visiting the beach and the Sealife Centre as part of their ‘Living Things and Habitats’ topic.
On the beach they made sand drawings of sea creatures, looked at the waves and collected shells. It was a bit windy but the rain held off for most of the time. In the Sealife centre, which calls itself a zooquarium the children enjoyed seeing sharks, rays and different fish including clown-fish, which they referred to as ‘Nemo’. They also saw penguins, otters, monkeys and meerkats. When they went into the butterfly garden some of the children were amazed as butterflies landed on them.
What a fantastic range of creatures to see and learn about and what a wonderful day they had.
